An intimate and interractive meeting with neighbours

An intimate and interractive meeting with neighbours living in proximity with Lakhimpur Commerce College was held on Saturday afternoon. The meeting was chaired by Dr Lohit Hazarika, the Principal of the college and was attended by individuals and family members of households of the college neighbourhood, representatives of various organizations whose offices are located near the college like AASU, ACMS, MASS and Srimanta Sankardev Sangha. etc. At the begining of the objective of the meeting was explained by Prof. Kuldeep Narayan Dutta in which the incoming golden jubilee celebrations of the college and other issues of the college locality were presented for open discusson. The participating neighbours of the college in the meeting expressed their happiness for inviting them for an interraction for the first time in its fifty years of existence. Those peaking at the meeting were college alumni and state secretary of MASS, Raju Singha, AASU state executive member Dhanmani Dutta, retired professor of Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science Dr. Naba Krishna Rajkhowa, teacher Uttam Turi, Dibakar Bora spoke about various issues affecting the neighbourhood of Lakhimpur Commerce College. All of them expressed their concerns for the under-construction Officer's Club and squash court near the college which would obstruct the only road leading to the college. All the speakers at the meeting asked for the complain against the construction before the concerned authority and also opined for taking legal recourse if the demands were not met. The meeting took unanimous resolutions to complain the construction and to file a petition before the concerned authority for that issue. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Muhidhar Pujari, President of the Governing Body of the college, teachers, student union members and non-teaching staff of the college.
