Department Profile
The Hindi Department was established on 4th September 1972 in Lakhimpur Commerce College imparting Hindi language and communication skill as a part of Commerce education.
The main objective of Hindi Department was to develop a consciousness on Hindi language and literature. Hindi teaching and promotion of Hindi language were two major issues in Assam.
Department offers Hindi subject as M.I.L in H.S (Commerce and Arts). various courses in Hindi i.e. B.A. Hons. Department also offers one Self-finance course on Translation Studies i.e. Vaksetu P.G. Diploma in Translation (Hindi-English-Hindi). The Department has been a leading department in pursuing creative writing skills and communication in especially in Language speaking and communication.
The Department of Hindi from its inception has treated Hindi as an integrated, multifaceted and multidimensional subject, Hindi language and literature has never been treated as isolated identity. We have further planned to extend ourselves to fulfil the extended aura of language and literature.
