Lakhimpur Commerce College offers 3 years degree programme in Arts and Commerce i.e. B.A. and B.Com. Each programme has clearly stated Programme Outcomes(P.O.) as follows:

· To enable the students to acquire knowledge, ideas and concepts in different subjects of Humanities such as English, Assamese and Hindi language and Literature, Political Science, Sociology, Education and Economics.

· To enable the students to be self-dependent in life and apply the knowledge, experience, ideas and skills in actual life situations.

· To help develop in the students the sense of social responsibility, qualities of leadership and contribute to building up a great Indian society where the motto would be unity in diversity, social peace and communal harmony and inculcation of human values.

I. Definition:

 

Programme-By Programme we mean the set of disciplines, Bachelor of Arts, in this case.

 

Programme Specific-By Programme Specific, we mean the specific discipline or subject or

department. Here, the Programme Specific is Bachelor of Arts in Assamese (B. A.

Assamese).

 

Course- By course we mean compartment of studies area. We can easily understand it as

paper(s).

 

Core Course- by Core Course, we mean honours paper in B. A. Assamese. The terminology

used in CBCS.

 

Discipline Specific Elective- by DSE, we mean the course students get to select in their 5th

and 6th semester of the programme. This terminology is used in CBCS.

 

Generic Elective- by GE, we mean the course (paper) that students of different department’s honour students can choose as their elective. This course will be offered to students from 1st

semester to 4th semester of the programme. This terminology is used in CBCS.

 

Major Course- we mean honour in or honour’s paper in Assamese. This terminology is used in non-CBCS.

 

Pass course: we mean the paper/course that students of different department’s honour

students can choose as their elective. This course will be offered to students having major

other than Assamese and selecting Assamese as their elective subject, from 1st semester to 4thsemester of the programme. This terminology is used in non-CBCS.

 

 

 

II. Courses offered under Bachelor of Arts in Assamese, Lakhimpur Commerce College:

 

The Department of Assamese which is one of the oldest Department of Lakhimpur

Girls’ College is offering Three Years UG Course (Bachelor of Arts in Assamese). The

Programme Specific comprises of total 6 (six) semesters viz. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th

.

Under Choice Based Credit System (CBCS), the programme Specific is divided into

14 Core Course (CC) and 4 Discipline Specific for those who take honours in Assamese. It

also offers Generic Elective (GE) for those students taking honours other than Assamese. It

offers 4 GE papers.

 

While under non-CBCS, the programme Specific is divided into 14 Major papers. It

also offers Pass course/ General paper for those students taking honours other than Assamese.

The pass course is offered to students from 1st semester to 4th semester.

 

Being affiliated to Dibrugarh University, in terms of end semester evaluation and

grading, the Department follows the grading system as per prescribed by the university for

both Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as well as Non-CBCS.***

B. Certificate Course
