DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE
1. OBJECTIVE:
a. The main objective of the department is to provide an opportunity to the student community to study Mathematics as a discipline in General Courses at degree level in Commerce stream under Dibrugarh University syllabus.
2. MISSION:
The mission of the department is to build the students up as responsible citizen with adequate knowledge of their right duties, and codes of social life who can contribute to the process of making a healthy, developed and integrated society in modernized and globalized societies. It is a noble endeavour of the department to encourage the students to inculcate social values, to strive to uphold the ideas of social construction and to serve the community around and the nation at large at the best of their abilities.
3. HISTORY:
a. The history of the departments dates back to 4th September 1972. In the time of starting the department one name associated with the department as lectures. Dr. Mukut Chandra Baruah joined as a faculty member in 1972. Dr. M.C Baruah took much initiative for development of the department and students offered their high interest toward the Mathematics subject. In the year 2005, Dr. M.C Baruah had been appointed as Principal at our college. In the year 2013, Mrs Tarun Kumari joined as an Assistant Professor in Department of Commercial Arithmetic for the vacant post of Dr. M.C Baruah. Department of Mathematics, Arts stream was started in 1992 and Nurul Islam joined as a faculty member at same year. Due to personal cause Md Nurul Islam left the college in 1998. In the year 2002, Mr. Dibyajyoti Hazarika was appointed as a faculty member at the Arts Stream. After that, Mr. D Hazarika has been joined as an assistant professor at North Lakhimpur College in 2011. Mr. Binud Kr Panging has been joined as an assistant Professor for the vacant post of Mr. D. Hazarika.
