Lakhimpur Commerce College today observed Universal Brotherhood Day, marking the 130th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's historic address of World Congress of Religion in Chicago. A meeting was organized for that occasion by the Vivekananda Kendra Study Centre, Lakhimpur Commerce College in association with Vivekananda Kendra, North Lakhimpur. At the beginning of the meeting the objective of the meeting was explained by Dr. Harinee Patowary Das, coordinator of Vivekananda Kendra Study Centre, Lakhimpur Commerce College. Dr. Barnali Borah, the Nagar Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra, North Lakhimpur delivered an introductory lecture on the centre and its objectives. Dr. Lohit Hazarika, Principal of Lakhimpur Commerce College delivered the welcome address at the meeting. Dr. Bani Kanta Kowar, Vice Principal of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) attended the meeting as the appointed speaker. In his speech Dr. Konwar talked about the importance of leading a spiritual life right from getting up from bed to the time of going to bed. He also stressed the need for kindness and mercy in achieving friendship.
